Jan de Mezer is a law student at the Faculty of Law and Psychology of the SWPS University in Poznań. He has been a member of the Student Council of the branch since the beginning of his studies, first as a member, then as chairman and currently as vice-chairman.

His interests include commercial law, international law and alternative forms of conflict resolution. He is a member of the Polish Mediation Centre in Poznań. In connection with these interests, he has written and co-authored several publications on topics such as the differences between a Polish limited liability company and its Japanese counterpart, which was later published in a collective university publication entitled ‘Student Legal Scientific Meeting’, peer mediation and access to information by entrepreneurs entitled ‘Rules for providing information by entrepreneurs’, later published in the monthly magazine ‘Przegląd Ustawodawstwa Gospodarczego’ (Economic Legislation Review).

As he mentions, he is keenly interested in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), in particular mediation. He completed the internationally certified ‘Accelerated Mediation Programme’ course organised by Centrum voor Conflicthantering, a Dutch mediation centre. As part of his activities at the University, he had the opportunity to participate in several international mediation and negotiation competitions. These included: INADR, which took place in Bologna, Vilnius and Poznań, CDRC Vienna 2025, Business Mediation Competition 2024 and International Business Mediation Competition (IBMC) 2025 in Amsterdam, and Prague Competition in Mediation and Negotiation 2023.
